SADBHAVANA DIWAS 

The birth anniversary of India’s sixth prime minister, Rajiv Gandhi, is observed as Sandbhavana Diwas, or Harmony Day, every year on August 20 in the country. Rajiv Gandhi, a former prime minister of India, was born on August 20, which is recognised as "Sadbhavana Diwas", or Harmony Day. The goal of Sadbhavana Diwas is to encourage peace, racial harmony, and national integration among all Indians. "Sadbhavana" is benevolence in English. 

Rajiv Gandhi attempted to spread his vision of a developed nation through various national and international enterprises, and Sadbhavana Diwas serves to further that cause.



The theme of this day is that people of many religions and ideologies should coexist in harmony and abstain from violence. Instilling social harmony, unity, fraternity, and love across society is the goal of Sadbhavana Diwas. racial harmony, and national integration among all Indians. RAJIV GANDHI 

He was the nation's youngest prime minister. At the age of forty, he was elected prime minister. His grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru, served as India's first prime minister. His mother, Indira Gandhi, served as India's prime minister. In the wake of Indira Gandhi's murder, Rajiv Gandhi was appointed prime minister. He served from 1984 to 1989. 

He was a major force in the nation's progress. In order to update and broaden higher education options across India, he declared a National Policy on Education in 1986. In order to improve the lives of those living in rural areas, he established the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya System, a central government-based organisation that offers free residential education to students in grades 6 through 12. His efforts led to the establishment of MTNL in 1986 as well as the development of public call offices (PCOs) for the distribution of telephones in rural areas.


RAIV GANDHI RECEIVES THE SADBHAWNA AWARD

The All India Congress Committee of the Indian National Congress established the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana award in 1992 to honour the late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi. This honour is granted annually to people who have dedicated their careers to comprehending and advancing societal peace. This honour comes with a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh.


The recipients of the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award include Jagan Nath Kaul, Lata Mangeshkar, Sunil Dutt, Kapila Vatsyanan, Swami Agnivesh, Nirmala Deshpande, Hem Dutta, N Radhakrishnan, Gautam Bhai, Wahiduddin Khan, and many more.
