Nagasaki Day

Tuesday is the 77th anniversary of the US dropping an atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. Three days after Hiroshima was obliterated by the first nuclear weapon, a uranium bomb called "Little Boy," the United States detonated the second one on Nagasaki on August 9, 1945.
Every year on August 9, Nagasaki Day is marked to promote peace politics and increase public understanding of the consequences of the bombing of Nagasaki.
Atomic weapons used in an attack on Nagasaki city quickly murdered thousands of people. The Japanese city was atomically bombed on this day 76 years ago. It is the second city to be hit by a nuclear weapon after Hiroshima.
A celebration is held in Galway Alliance War's Eyre Square on the anniversary of the United States' 1945 atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Every year, a number of events are held to support peace politics through music, dancing, and singing.

HISTORY

The "Fat Man" codename was applied to the bomb dropped on Nagasaki. Over 80,000 individuals were slain. Japan's unconditional surrender in the Second World War was the result of this. At least 70,000 people died in the initial Nagasaki explosion, and another 70,000 or so later perished from radiation-related illnesses. The "Fat Man" was dropped from the US Enola Gay warplane about 1,650 feet above Nagasaki. Japan's unconditional surrender in the Second World War was the result of this.
At 11:02 in the morning, the plutonium bomb "Fat Man" was dropped. The Hiroshima bomb was not as powerful as this one. The bomb had a weight of almost 10,000 pounds and was designed to generate a 22-kiloton blast. Because of the valleys between the mountains in Nagasaki, the effect of the bombing was mitigated and the amount of destruction was kept to 2.6 square miles.

SIGNIFICANCE

The nuclear attacks resulted in severe damage to property and lives. Most of the doctors and nurses were killed or injured. The victims died without receiving any medical care. Years into that incident, the survivors in the city experienced diseases like leukemia, thyroid, breast, and lung cancer at a higher frequency.
Japan opposed the United States and its allies during the Second World War. As the allies advanced across the battlefield, nations like China and Japan were driven back. A nuclear assault was launched as a result of the Japanese forces' brutal treatment of the British and American troops.
Little Boy, a nuclear weapon dropped on Hiroshima, destroyed structures within a 2.5 km radius, killing 28,000 people, whilst Fat Man, a plutonium bomb detonated on Nagasaki in 1945, claimed the lives of almost 75,000 people.

CONCLUSION

Today serves as a reminder of the horrific consequences of nuclear war, which have occurred throughout history. The bombing's aftereffects included radiation poisoning, such as atomic bomb disease, which raised cancer risks and caused birth deformities, severe mental retardation, etc.
