The alarming reality is that wild tiger populations have decreased by over 95% since the turn of the 20th century. In honour of International Tiger Day, we would like to extend an invitation to you to learn more about this fascinating animal. Four easy and enjoyable options are available for you to express your support, including reading up about this amazing animal, making a card with a tiger theme, and purchasing one of our eye-catching tiger badges.

The 29th of July is designated as International Tiger Day every year. The tiger is known for being the biggest cat on the entire planet. The unique orange and black stripes on a tiger's face and body make them easy to recognize. The worldwide observance of International Tiger Day aims to increase public awareness of the need for tiger protection. The purpose of the day is to create a global network devoted to safeguarding tigers and their natural habitats. By providing tigers with a secure and flourishing home, we also protect other animals and our forests. Through International Tiger Day, we can work toward a time when tigers and people can live side by side in harmony.
Following the discovery that only about 3,000 wild tigers remained after 97 percent of them had vanished over the previous century, the first International Tiger Day was observed in 2010.The fact that tigers are in danger of going extinct is not a surprise, and International World Tiger Day seeks to prevent the situation from getting worse. A few of the causes of the fall in the tiger population include habitat loss, climate change, hunting, and poaching.
The day strives to preserve these species as well as to safeguard and improve their habitats. Worldwide Tiger Day is also observed by numerous international organisations, including the WWF, IFAW, and Smithsonian Institution.

Tigers and humans are increasingly clashing as a result of habitat loss and climate change. A very major threat to wild tigers is poaching and the illegal trading sector. Increased instances of poaching and trafficking are being caused by the demand for tiger bones, skin, and other body parts. Localized extinctions are the result, making it nearly impossible for the tiger population to recover. The loss of habitat is another danger that has harmed the tiger population. We are seeing a global decline in tiger habitats as a result of access routes, habitations, logging, plantations, and agriculture. In actuality, just 7% of the original tiger habitats remain unaltered today.

Theme

International Tiger Day 2022's theme for this year is "India begins Project Tiger to revive the tiger population." The WWF and the work it undertakes might greatly benefit from adopting a tiger. They back programs that work with local residents to protect tigers and take stern action against poaching and illegal trade. Currently, tigers can be seen roaming freely in 13 different nations, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Russia, Thailand, and Vietnam.

SIGNIFICANCE

The purpose of this holiday is to increase public awareness of the importance of protecting and expanding the wild tiger habitat. In 2010, as the Tiger Conference was taking place in St. Petersburg, Russia, it was decided to commemorate

"International Tiger Day" on July 29 every year. At this meeting, 13 countries with tiger populations agreed to double their tiger populations by 2022 during this meeting. In reality, poaching and forest destruction have resulted in a significant drop in the number of tigers in several countries throughout the world. The governments of numerous countries represented at this meeting aim to double the number of tigers by 2022. The dangers that wild tigers encounter are not well known.
