_HISTORY_

The World Bamboo Organization's then-President Kamlesh Salam, along with a number of delegates from around the globe, developed and established the World Bamboo Day.

The first World Bamboo Day was observed on September 18, 2009. To raise bamboo awareness worldwide, World Bamboo Day is observed. To ensure sustainable bamboo use, the World Bamboo Organization (WBO) works to safeguard the environment and natural resources.

World Bamboo Day is also observed to promote local traditional uses of bamboo for local community economic development as well as new bamboo cultivation for new industries in regions all over the world.
