*WORLD LION DAY*
On August 10, there will be a celebration called World Lion Day to bring attention to the problems lions confront. One of the most well-known and well-liked animal species is the lion, scientifically known as "Panthero Leo." They are known as the "Kings of the Jungle" because of their arresting and intimidating personalities, which are a result of their magnificent bodies and thick, glossy manes. Unmatched in strength, a lion's roar can be heard up to five kilometres distant. Children also enjoy lions because of pop culture figures like Simba from "The Lion King." However, because to hunting and poaching, lion populations have decreased from high numbers 100 years ago to just about 50,000 now.
The purpose of Lion Day is to increase awareness of the majestic hunter, top feline, king of the jungle, and big, fluffy cat of the Serengeti. We should have left it at "king from the bush," I suppose. In essence, it's about lions, but you already knew that from the title. The largest recognised refuge in the world dedicated to huge felines, Large Cat Save, started this celebration from the most magnificent and terrifying monster in the animal kingdom. The great lion is honoured on August 15th by people coming together from all around the world to show their respect in as many different ways as they can.
Although it may seem like a joyful and exciting celebration for those who attend, its fundamentals are founded on an extremely serious issue: lion populations have drastically declined to the point that the species must be listed as endangered, much like its larger relative the tiger.
_HISTORY_
In 2013, a couple committed to lion conservation and protection organised the first World Lion Day. after observing that lion populations have sharply declined throughout the world. The Jouberts graciously requested assistance from "National Geographic." The couple established the Big Cat Initiative (B.C.I.) together with National Geographic in 2009.
The National Geographic Big Cats Initiative's principal objective was to safeguard the world's last remaining lion species. The alliance intends to save lions in their natural environment. The Big Cat Initiative also promotes safety measures by instructing individuals on how to defend themselves without harming lions.
_SIGNIFICANCE_
Lions inhabited Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East in their natural habitat about 4 million years ago. However, only Africa and Asia were now home to free-roaming loins. On the Red List of Threatened Species, lions are classified as endangered. There are presently between 30,000 and 100,000 lions left in the world.
Lion populations have almost cut in half during the last three decades. As a result, World Lion Day offers a valuable chance to learn more about the most spectacular species and their environment. This day also intended to raise awareness of the ways in which we may support the preservation and conservation of the lion species.
Each year on 10th August, World Lion Day is celebrated, this day helps us to make aware the significance and protection of the wild beast, which is the king of the jungle. The Royal Bengal Tiger is thriving in India, but same cannot be stated for the big cat, Asiatic Lion.
